Cooperation between KATHREIN-Werke KG and the Dutch police
New TETRA antenna system has been developed

Technology specialists and engineers from the radio and mobile communications antenna departments of KATHREIN-Werke KG together with the technical services of the Dutch police have developed an antenna system for expanding the Dutch police force's TETRA network.

Around 500 new base stations have been planned to extend the TETRA network, to be installed in the next two to three years. Two antenna systems have been developed according to supply zone that differ with regard to the tilt angle of the main lobe (0°/6°). Distribution networks with asymmetric power division mean that directional diagrams are possible without needing to modify the antenna configuration.

Already in May 2011 a first sample of the antenna (see photo) was successfully demonstrated to the technical specialists from the Dutch police, Theo de Bont and Didier van der Poel, who tested the antenna in detail together with the Kathrein experts, and also implemented intermodulation measurements (IM) among other processes.

During the course of 2011 it was possible to ship ten base stations. A forecast was handed over to representatives of the Dutch authorities as part of the %#8216;IBC’ international trade fair for film, radio and television that contained precise information concerning the intended project plan.

Both implementation of the project as well as interaction with the customer are carried out in Holland by Gerard Hessing (Kathrein representative at the Dutch company Hutronic).
