Broadcast antenna seminar
Technicians from Télédifusion d'Algérie in Rosenheim
The digital era is also shaping the broadcasting landscape in Algeria. Following successful completion of the pilot phase of TNT (Télévision Numérique Terrestre, synonymous to
the European DVB-T standard), the expansion of additional broadcasting sites is being promoted.
At present, three new antenna systems from Rosenheim are ready to be installed in Tessala, Kef-El-Akhal and Chrea. These strategically convenient broadcasting sites deliver transmission
to populous administrative districts in Northern Algeria. Chrea, for example, will soon be able to provide the city of Algier with up to 24 programmes, transmitted on four digital
television channels.
A group of 14 engineers and technicians lead by Abdelmalek Mekhoukh (Chef de Dept. TV et FM) recently took part in a seminar on broadcast antenna technology, which had been structured to
cater for the TDA’s particular needs. Theory and practice of broadcast antennas were covered in detail in a series of numerous lectures and workshops.
After having completed the seminar, the participants were visibly impressed by Kathrein’s antenna technology. "Kathrein’s engineers excelled in providing us with interesting, helpful and
practical information which will assist us in the future", stated Abdelmalek Mekhoukh (in picture, 5th from left). Centre: Kathrein Project Manager Anton Vogl.
