Two examples of international activities
Digital TV takes over
Prague in the Czech Republic and João Pessoa in Brazil. Two vacation destinations? Sure. In our report, they are more the gateway to a sheet of pictures that so to speak reflect the
fact that digital TV is standing its ground. Our Kathrein developers, engineers and technicians of the broadcast antenna business unit once again travelled around the world and equipped the
two locations with the latest antenna technology. The Prague TV tower in the precinct Žižkov is a landmark that was built between 1985 and 1992, which stands out due to its
remarkable design: Three steel-clad concrete columns, on which the rooms for transmission equipment, an observation deck and a restaurant are affixed. The 216 metre high tower is open to the
public, featuring a tower restaurant at a height of 63 metres and a paned observation deck at 95 metres. The antenna systems located above are used to broadcast TV and FM radio programmes.
At night, the three columns are illuminated in the colours of the Czech national flag: white, red and blue.
The TV tower of TV Cabo in Brazil takes care of the digital broadcasting of radio and TV programmes for the entire metropolitan area of João Pessoa. The antenna system mounted on the
tower was realised by the specialists from Kathrein in Rosenheim together with their colleagues of KATHREIN-Mobilcom Brasil.
