KATHREIN with DVB-T in Argentina

In tight co-operation with the Bavarian Ministry for Economic Affairs, Infrastructure, Transport and Technology, the Rosenheim-based antenna specialist KATHREIN took part in the “CAPER 2008” in Buenos Aires/Argentina, presenting themselves together with other Bavarian businesses at a joint stand. The trade show was focused on the current trends in multimedia, radio and television broadcasting, cinema and satellites.
In Argentina, information and communication technology is growing at a rate above the international average. “Since the Argentine government is introducing the European DVB standard, the broadcasting sector is particularly being benefited, “ explained Prof. Dr. Anton Kathrein in Buenos Aires. “The commercial launch of DVB-T technology, which we have already implemented fully functionally, has lead to a dramatic change in the quality of TV viewing. Especially TV viewing on computers has evolved from being an exception, becoming the standard.“ On this note, KATHREIN and KATHREIN-Mobilcom Brasil presented complete broadcasting systems for digital television technology.
The pay-TV operator ANTINA already delivers a package in Buenos Aires with 48 programmes from three terrestrial broadcasting sites, transmitted in SFN mode (transmission in the same frequency with 2 x 6 multiplex signals). ANTINA also sponsors a rally team which won the 2008 Argentinean Championship on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IV. ANTINA is interested in co-operating with Kathrein on the sports level as well.
Hermann Gaßner and Karin Thannhäuser, of Kathrein’s Racing and Rally Team, won the 2008 German Rally Championship on a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX.
Relations between Argentina and Germany are excellent. Germany is ranked 4^th among Argentina’s main supplier countries after Brazil, USA and China.
