International technology seminar hosted by Kathrein
Technicians from 28 countries scale new professional heights in Rosenheim
One thing totally put Kathrein’s technology in the shade and reduced its engineers from Development and Sales to the status of mere reporters in the face of brilliant technical refinements: the social high point in the framework programme of a seminar on professional antenna technology was without a doubt Rohrdorf’s maypole erection ceremony. Representatives from 28 different countries and Kathrein subsidiaries had travelled to Rosenheim, and for four days the 42 delegates were presented with tips, tricks, innovations and visions for the future. The unanimous cry to their host Prof. Dr Kathrein (front row, 4th from left) was: “We really must do this again!”

Technicians from 28 countries scale new professional heights in Rosenheim
Technology you can get your hands on. For three days, 37 international guests from 28 countries discussed technical improvements and product innovations made in the Broadcast Antennas division of the Rosenheim-based antenna specialist Kathrein. Dipl.-Ing. Wolfgang Niedhammer and a team of individuals from the development, sales
and production departments organised the “Technology seminar for broadcast experts“.
According to Prof. Dr. Anton Kathrein, who lectured on the Kathrein group’s world-wide activities: “The turnout was as high as we had expected it to be. Participants came from all over
the world, from South America to China, South Africa to Norway, from our subsidiaries, foreign representatives and partner companies across the globe.”
Different seminars were offered at the four Kathrein plants in Rosenheim. Topics ranged from new techniques, technologies and products for digital terrestrial TV (DVB-T) and mobile television
(DVB-H) to current international antenna projects. The application of special planning tools and software for professional antenna systems were of course also covered in the programme.
“The practical work part found ready acceptance“, stated a pleased Wolfgang Niedhammer. “The practice on measuring instruments and the introduction to the software workflow processes
supported the theoretical explanations.“ One thing totally put Kathrein’s technology in the shade: without a doubt, the absolute highlights of the framework programme were definitely
the erection of the maypole in Rohrdorf and the spontaneous snowball fight at the Speckalm on the Sudelfeld, especially for the participants from exotic countries.
